Witney’s Christmas market is at Cogges Manor Farm on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November 2026, 10am to 4pm, with entry at £3 for adults and £1 for children. The biggest market in the district, at Blenheim Palace, opens in mid-November and runs until Sunday 20 December; it is free to walk in. The town council’s free Children’s Advent Fayre, where children usually meet Father Christmas, is at the Corn Exchange on Sunday 29 November.

Cogges Christmas Market

Cogges fills its Victorian barns with stalls selling crafts, gifts, ceramics, knitwear, jewellery, art and festive food, with more stalls, Cogges Christmas trees for sale, mulled wine and hot food out in the farmyard. There is a bar, a face painter, and live music.

On Saturday the Witney Town Band plays from 11am to noon, followed by the choir from The Blake School from 12.30pm to 1pm.

Entry is £3 for adults and £1 for children aged 2 and over, and free for Cogges season ticket holders. There is no need to book. Cogges asks visitors to bring cash as well as a card. Parking is free, off Church Lane; the farm gives OX28 3FR as the postcode for the car park.

Blenheim Palace Christmas Market

The Great Court at Blenheim becomes a village of wooden chalets for Christmas. Blenheim’s own page says the market opens on Friday 13 November and closes on Sunday 20 December; the ticketing FAQ gives Thursday 12 November and hours of 10.30am to 8.30pm, closing at 5.30pm on nights the light trail is not running.

You do not need a ticket to visit the market. Parking is charged after 10am: £10 a car booked in advance or £12 on the day. Cash and card are both taken, but card is preferred. Where to see Father Christmas

The Children’s Advent Fayre, Sunday 29 November, Corn Exchange, Witney. The Corn Exchange lists it as a free Christmas craft fair for local children, with “more information coming soon”. Witney Town Council’s Advent Fayre page describes Christmas crafts, letter writing to Santa, face painting and a visit from Father Christmas, in timed sessions. The council’s Christmas sponsorship page describes a Santa’s grotto and 400 attendees across two sold-out sessions, morning and afternoon, so book as soon as tickets appear.

The lights switch-on, Friday 27 November. The Rotary Club of Witney’s listing for the evening promises a Santa’s grotto, a funfair and stalls. Full details are on our switch-on page.

Blenheim Palace. Father Christmas appears on the light trail, but Blenheim says he does not meet children individually, so it is not a grotto visit.

Other towns

  • Woodstock: the Night of a Thousand Candles, Woodstock’s lights switch-on, is held on the last Saturday of November. In 2025 it ran 5.30pm to 7pm outside the Town Hall, with carols from the school choir, food and drink, according to organiser Wake Up To Woodstock. If the pattern holds, this year’s is Saturday 28 November, but it has not been announced.
  • Chipping Norton: there was no town Christmas market in 2025. The town council’s November 2025 newsletter said it was dropped “due to increased costs linked to car-parking suspensions”, and the switch-on went ahead on its own. Nothing is announced for 2026.
